Illustration Friday ..."Protest"

Raise a hand in protest

For the follies we make,
We have no one to blame,
......but Nature.

The Uttarakhand floods - North India - A man made disaster.

Illustration Friday ...."Yesterday"

Just like yesterday,
I picked my crayons.

Just like before,
I drew the Red Fort.

But this one will never be as stunning,
as the Red Fort I drew when I was five.

Illustration friday... "New"

 Women of India..
Let's hope for the New,
Let's ask for a better tomorrow,
For a better world,
For me and for you.

In memory of the brave young 23 year old gang rape victim
who succumbed to her horrific injuries and stirred a nation.

Winter lakes that freeze
A shikara still goes by
Beautiful Kashmir

....haiku

An attempt at creating a haiku- A short English verse of 3 lines with a 5-7-5 syllable structure. Haikus have a more complex structure in Japanese poetry from which it originates.
Sometimes less can mean more and fewer words can describe better the scene before us. That is why I love the simple haiku. You can interpret it in so many ways.

Illustration Friday..."Hitched"

I hitched a ride down memory lane,
Softly bumping along the way.
Never a hurry, nor a worry,
The sweet feeling of a lazy day.

Illustration Friday ...."Jump"

An Ode to
The Ancient Martial Art of Kalaripayattu
of South India

A twist, a turn, a lightening sword,
A Rhythmic jump, swift to fall,
Leaping as a leopard, ready to fly
To touch the clouds, to reach the sky.

Illustration Friday..."Yield"

 The king of fruits-Mango

With April and hot weather around the corner,
looking forward to a bountiful yield of delicious, juicy mangoes.
Mango is native to the Indian sub continent
and India consumes nearly all it produces.
